Simon Pagenaud walked away following a wild tumble during practice for the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Presented by the 2023 Accord Hybrid.
The 2019 Indy 500 winner suffered an apparent brake failure heading into Turn 4 of the 2.4-mile road course which sent his No. 60 Meyer Shank Racing Honda into a series of barrel rolls.
The IndyCar Medical Staff evaluated the Frenchman but deemed a further evaluation will be necessary on Sunday to clear him to drive.
The IndyCar statement wrote:
“Following this morning’s incident at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, the driver of the No. 60, Simon Pagenaud, was evaluated and released by the INDYCAR medical team. As per INDYCAR protocol, Pagenaud has not been cleared to return to racing today. He will be re-evaluated tomorrow morning.”
