FONTANA, Calif. — NASCAR has canceled today’s qualifying sessions for both tomorrow’s Pala Casino 400 and today’s Production Alliance Group 300.
The starting lineups will be determined by NASCAR’s qualifying metric. Christopher Bell will start on the pole for tomorrow’s Cup race. Austin Hill claims the top sport for today’s 300-miler Xfinity race. The qualifying metric is calculated by the driver and owner’s previous race finish, fastest lap from the previous race and owner’s points.
Daytona 500 champion Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. will flank Bell on the front row, his best career start on the 2.0-mile oval. Joey Logano and Alex Bowman complete the second row and Chris Buscher fills out the top five.
NASCAR owed the decision to the torrential storms that have hammered the west coast for the last week and are not scheduled to let off throughout the day.
NASCAR has not decided on postponing today’s 300 milers, an update is expected by early afternoon.
